In reality, there are many different styles of therapy and evidence-based approaches.

When describing how I work with clients, I describe therapy like an Iceberg.
The top of the Iceberg represents the presenting issue in the here and now. You will take on an active role in treatment and will be engaged in your cognitive brain. You will learn coping strategies, change thought patterns, and change patterns of behaviors. You will use cognitive abilities to rationalize, gain insights, and understanding. Therapy styles utilized include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Solution- Focused
Behavioral Therapy
Mindfulness
Family Systems
While the bottom of the iceberg represents the unconscious. You will focus on the ‘emotional brain’ that stores memories, emotions, fight/flight/freeze response. You will start connecting memories or thoughts to emotional responses. You will learn to connect to your body and release stored physical responses.
Therapy styles utilized include:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Brainspotting
Somatic/ Body Based
